Grinding away in corporate roles, cogs in large machines and leading a lifestyle full of routine and planning. What was the point? We craved change....If not now...when? 

“LET’S MOVE TO THE MOUNTAINS” 

Home to all of our favourite recreation and vacation destinations.  Our place to congregate, find solitude, or simply just be. Within a few months time we sold our home, quit our jobs, waved goodbye to city living and hit the road. No confirmed destination - just a hope and a search for change.


The Idea

We love good food. Always have. We live an active lifestyle tucked away in our small mountain town – a lifestyle where nourishment and convenience are notions often at odds with one another.  Rifling through store shelves in search of foods NOT filled with “natural flavours”, chemical ingredients, excessive sugar, and other modifiers is fruitless. So, we asked ourselves…

"DOES IT NEED TO BE THIS WAY?"

No. It doesn’t. So, we began cooking – from scratch – basic pantry items to feed ourselves.

We started with Mountain Bites.

We were always searching for a culinary companion to energize us on our next ski day, hike, bike ride or back-country excursion. Disenchanted by the low quality ingredients, factory-processed options lacking any freshness or craftsmanship...We wanted REAL FOOD that tasted great.

We stepped out from the kitchen, put ourselves in front of our peers and under a tent at the local Farmer’s Market to feed the community. Overwhelmingly, we found we were not alone in our search. Many had grown sick of the household pantry options, but felt helpless due to the necessity of convenience. We wanted to rid the necessity of buying packaged convenience foods – often made from recipes engineered by food scientists and manufactured by machines in factories. Even the “small” company options at local markets are often produced side-by-side with the big guys, but covered by the façade of a marketing company shell. So we are replacing our household staples like granola bars, bread, crackers and sweets; and redesigning them to be truly nourishing to the body and soul. After all,

We're taking it back to the way things used to be, before mass production took over our diets. A time where scratch cooking was KING. So we've built our own factory, but not in the traditional sense. No, we have...

a factory of hands

where there's no compromising on quality of ingredients, or quick production methods. Simply a few sets of hands, some key kitchen tools, and a work space made to reinvent the pantry as we know it. NO EXCEPTIONS and NO CUTTING CORNERS.
